Tips for preparing a successful CRSC claim

The two most common reasons a Soldier’s claim is ineligible include:

1. Soldier is not in a retired status.

2. Soldier does not have a VA Waiver in place on his/her Electronic Retired Pay Account; the Soldier should wait until he/she can pull up his/her (ERPA) Electronic Retired Pay Account from MyPAY.  If the word “Waiver” and a dollar amount next to it is reflected2., the waiver is in place. Number one reason for ineligibility. (No VA Waiver)  <–CLICK HERE to Continue Reading –>

Today, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced that all veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving in the military — at home or abroad — will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care beginning March 5, 2024. This means that all veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror, or any other combat zone after 9/11 will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits. Additionally, veterans who never deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or on active duty in the United States will also be eligible to enroll.

As directed by President Biden, this expansion of VA health care eliminates the phased-in approach called for by the PACT Act — meaning —- CLICK HERE–>

We oppose the PLUS Act because we stand for veterans

By Daniel J. Seehafer, National Commander

Nov 27, 2023

Dear American Legion Family and Friends,

Let me say this in the clearest terms possible: Veterans should feel safe and confident when filing for claims, knowing that no matter who they choose for representation, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has reviewed, approved and accredited that party.

That is why The American Legion opposes the PLUS (Preserving Lawful Utilization of Services for Veterans) Act. If enacted, the PLUS Act would transition our system of securing benefits for disabled veterans to an unregulated profit-driven industry……READ MORE
